We're taking suggestions for the format of this tournament.  Give us something to think about!

Well I signed my team up and paid, and I have only 2 different suggestions of how to run the tourney if it's being capped at 128.

1.  6-8 'quick' games of random Pool play (pun intended) a la WSOBP, 64 teams with the best record advancing to the final double elimination tournament.  Gets the most out of people's money, separates the men from the boys... win-win situation.

2.  128 teams, double elimination.

Format that will be used will most likely be chosen on time constraints of course.

Yup, time constraints are definitely a factor.  We had a format last year for our $5,000 West Coast Classic tournament.  It went as follows:

128 team max, 5 game pool play with cup diff.  Best 64 teams advance to a "best of three" tournament.  The #1 seed plays the #64 seed, #2 plays the #63 seed, and so on.  They play best of three, so the team who wins twice moves on, the other gets knocked out.  This cuts it down to 32 teams immediately.  From there we do 32 team double elimination.

People seemed to love that format.  Thoughts anyone?
